Hi again Bernz, I have been having a look at your Golders website and wanted to congratulate you - it’s just fantastic. What a lot of hard work you have put into it, and so well researched.
I was delighted to encounter a photograph of my great-great-grandfather, James Gray Hastie, and slightly spooked to find that he looks very much like my dad, and quite similar to me too.
I can give you a few more dates for your website - if you check my tree you will note I have Ralph and Edith’s birth dates. Also, James Hastie had quite a varied career - he was a watchmaker, then a pawnbroker, then a fireman. It was this last job which resulted in his demise - he was killed whilst on duty, attending a fire at Hatrick’s department store in Renfield Street, Glasgow. There was a chemical explosion which caused the building to collapse and four firemen were killed instantly. This was on 7th January 1898.
Finally, in my tree you will find all of Francis Hastie’s issue, so you can add us all to the descendants of William Golder.
